The Challenge

Something Is Happening
to Our Kids.

In classrooms across the country, teachers are watching it happen in real time. The kid who won't raise their hand. The one who goes quiet when called on. The one who can't seem to settle, can't focus, can't find stillness.

Children who lack confidence speaking often experience performance anxiety that leads to increased absenteeism, social withdrawal, and a deepening fear of being judged.

This isn't misbehavior. This isn't a discipline problem.

This is a child who hasn't yet found the one tool that could change everything. Their voice.

The Root

The Voice Goes Quiet
Earlier Than You Think.

By ages 9 to 12, the patterns are already forming:

  • The child who won't speak up in class.
  • The kid who freezes when asked a question.
  • The one who whispers when they have something to say.

These aren't personality traits. They're learned silences. And they can be unlearned.

"Children who learn silence are rarely heard as adults. They learn to comply, avoid confrontation, and suppress their own needs."

The Root of the Problem
The Science

The Voice Is a Pathway
to Regulation.

What the Big Voice Youth Program is built on isn't just philosophy. It's physiology.

By making gentle sounds such as humming and toning, we can begin to reset the nervous system and experience more ease. Gentle sounds calm the vagus nerve โ€” which connects to the voice box, the middle ear, the chest, the lungs, and the gut.

Trauma Research Foundation

Activities such as singing promote a 'ventral vagal' state โ€” enhancing feelings of safety and social connectivity. Vocal practices such as chanting and humming stimulate the vagus nerve, enhancing parasympathetic nervous system activity.

National Center for Voice and Speech ยท Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges)

Vibrations from vocal toning and humming help increase vagal tone. A higher vagal tone is associated with improved emotional regulation, a stronger immune system, and better overall health.

Academy of Sound Healing ยท Journal of Evidence-Based Integrative Medicine

When a child uses their voice intentionally, their nervous system shifts from stress to safety. This is not a singing class. This is nervous system education through the most natural instrument a child has โ€” their own voice.

The Program

A Free 10-Week Series
for Youth Ages 9โ€“12.

Designed for classrooms, homeschool families, and parents. No musical experience required. No special training needed. Just a screen โ€” and ten minutes that could change how a child sees themselves.

01 โ€” Student Videos

10 Student-Facing Videos

Each video guides youth through embodied voice practices โ€” toning, humming, breathwork, and vocal confidence exercises โ€” led directly by our trained coaches. Your students learn from the screen. You watch it happen.

02 โ€” Teacher Videos

3 Teacher-Facing Videos

Simple orientation videos that walk educators through the program, explain the science, and give you everything you need to integrate this confidently โ€” even if you've never done anything like this before.

03 โ€” Coach Support

Embodied Voice Coach Support

Our trained YBV coaches are available to support teachers and help integrate the work more deeply into your school or homeschool community.

Our Commitment

Why Free?

Because every child deserves this. Not just the ones in well-funded schools. Not just the ones whose parents can afford private programs. Every child. In every classroom. Everywhere.

The Your Big Voice Foundation exists to make voice-based wellness free and accessible to all โ€” with a particular commitment to reaching BIPOC communities, under-resourced schools, and families who have historically had the least access to social-emotional learning tools.

"To make the transformative power of voice freely available to every child, every teacher, and every community that needs it."

The voice your students
are waiting to find is
already inside them.

You just have to give them the space to hear it.
